Lorde’s “Royals” As Gaeilge

You may have come across some of Galway independent Irish-language school Coláiste Lurgan’s previous videos on YouTube, but their latest, an Irish-language cover of Lorde’s hit “Royals” (Ríoga), is becoming a bit of an internet sensation.

My hat’s off to Coláiste Lurgan for their innovative and clearly enjoyable approach to Irish immersion; they seem to really try to make the curriculum relevant their student’s lives and interests. It’s a far cry from the colorless Gaeltacht immersion my classmates and I endured in the ’80s — although, to be fair, a week in Kerry with your friends under minimal supervision was quite enjoyable, we just didn’t learn a lot of Irish.

More info about Coláiste Lurgan can be found here…

as Gaeilge means “in Irish”
